Gumla Grameen Self-Supporting Poultry Co-operative Society Ltd. was awarded the Best Rural Community Micro Enterprise 2013 by Citi Foundation in Mumbai on December 2013.
The members of the co-operatives have been time and again recognized and awarded for their achievements as small entrepreneurs. A member Mary Tigga from Torpa Grameen Poultry Co-operative Society was recognized and awarded a Certificate of Honour and an amount of Rs one lakh as an entrepreneur by the Vice-Chairman of Planning Commission Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia organised by Citi Foundation. Similarly, the president of JWSPFL. Mrs Salen Hembrom and the production manager Mr. Junul Hembrom of Torpa Grameen Poultry Co-operative Society were awarded in Mumbai for their exemplary performance as small entrepreneurs and motivating others to adopt the small holder poultry farming model. They were awarded the “Jamshedji Tata Rashtriya Sankalpana Academy Antyodayi Samajik Karyakarta Pathiawarti” award organised by the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation in the 7th Convocation Ceremony of the Mumbai University on the 27th of November, 2010. They received the Certificate of Honour from the Governer of Punjab Mr. Shivraj Singh Patil in the presence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Prithriraj Chauhan and other honoraries.
4th of February,2011 added another glory to the achievements of the co-operative societies when Gumla Grameen Poultry Co-operative Society was awarded the “Best Co-operative Society” for the year 2010 by, National Co-operative Development Corporation, New Delhi. The award was received by Sarita Devi, President Gumla Grameen Poultry Co-operative Society on behalf of the members of the society. With this award the success saga of the co-operative societies continues.
